An Introduction to Jim King
I am passionate about life, my family and my work. I bring that passion to each
engagement and job. Digital Vision Consulting provides me the opportunity to take specialized
engagements in addition to the great opportunities afforded by working directly
for top tier pharmaceutical firms.
Training and the Foundation
My training started with a tour with the United States Marine Corps, building a
foundation of leadership and integrity. My education was in engineering as both
an electronics engineer and commercial electrical engineering.
Process Thinking – The Foundation for Strategic Assessment
Work after the military included commercial steel, working in a joint venture startup
with Sumitomo Metals and Sandvick steel to help create the most automated and efficient
hot finish extrusion mill in the world. While a part of that experience, I had a
chance to work with some very talented and dedicated team members and also hone
my process skills. Every second in a manufacturing process is scrutinized and every
efficiency gained can yield monetary value. This process thinking translated very
well to the consulting and business world when I made the move to the Philadelphia
area to work with a business and technology consulting firm.
Consulting in Philadelphia
In the Philadelphia area, I worked with many of the large Pharmaceutical companies,
state government, education, as well as many of the startups in the dot com boom.
While consulting for this broad range of clients, I build a track record of successful
engagements and lessons learned both personally and from trusted collogues.
Moving into the Pharmaceutical Industry
I transitioned from outside consulting, to taking a leadership role as an employee
with Merck. Working for the executive director of the Clinical Development Program,
I led a very talented, cross company team in partnership with Microsoft and others,
in the creation of the first Electronic Clinical Trial framework for the late phase
CDP group in US Human Health.
Following the success at Merck, I have taken various leadership roles in Wyeth and
now Pfizer as well, working with early discovery through clinical in various roles.
These role include current responsibilities for the global business technology needs
for research and labs across the Infant Nutritionals and Consumer Healthcare business.
